   Artificial Intelligence

   When starting OpenAI in late 2015, Greg and Sam had initially planned to raise $100M. Elon said in an email: “We need to go with a much bigger number than $100M to avoid sounding hopeless… I think we should say that we are starting with a $1B funding commitment… I will cover whatever anyone else doesn't provide.”
   In total, the non-profit has raised less than $45M from Elon and more than $90M from other donors.

   Astronautics

   Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, commonly referred to as SpaceX, was founded in 2002.  SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. Their goal is to reduce the cost of space travel and eventually colonize Mars.  There is much competition leading to the start of the Kessler Syndrome.

   Communication

   X (formerly Twitter) is a social media platform acquired by Elon in 2022 and renamed X in 2023.  (Elon had the domain, why not?)

   Cryptocurrencies

   Bitcoin was the original crypto currency; invented by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 as an alternative to banking systems.   Investing is not for the meek - the prices fluctuate.

   Neuralink is a neurotechnology company focused on developing unique brain-computer interfaces.  It was founded in 2016 and recently implanted a chip in a human brain. 

   The competition in China is taking the approach of enhancement instead of compensation.

   Climate Change is a problem for all of humanity, and it's one Elon is tackling indirectly.   He supports the adoption of electric vehicles, but he has an escape plan if he destroys the planet while doing it.
